Photographers Tony and Chelsea Northrup made this light-hearted 7.5-minute video about the 5 most annoying types of photographers you could ever come across.

Below is an overview and description of the 5 different types mentioned in the video, which was posted a few years ago:

# 1. The Copy Cat: photographers who get a little too "inspired" by what they see you doing;

# 2. The Chatty Cathy: photographers whose incessant talking ruins many peaceful photo outings;

# 3. The Gear Nerd: photographers who always have far too much equipment with them;

# 4. The Photography Widow: photographers who spend more time and attention on their work than on their significant other;

# 5. The Teacher: photographers who constantly bless others with unsolicited advice.

There are bound to be many other types of photographers who always seem to get on your nerves. Feel free to share your descriptions and personal experiences in the comments!

    Following on from five: photographers who criticize someone else's photo without being asked.
    "yes, quite nice, but that shadow on the left is still a bit blocked up. I do see a highlight here and there, though, and I would have placed the model a little more to the right in the photo. And it's even much nicer in black and white. A little more depth of field could have worked too"

    If I'm honest, I might lean a little towards number 3 (The Gear Nerd) myself. Not to show off with my gear, but more like: what if ... wouldn't it be better if I brought that ... too. Something to work on: daring to be more creative with the chosen equipment ... knipoog

    @Peter: if the material is deliberately chosen and used well, I don't really see anything wrong with it...

    Another one: photographers who are always critical of other photographers.

    You can't really call them photographers, but I do find the 'narcissistic selfie idiots' pretty annoying.....

    I recognize myself in #3 but that's because I have little storage space for my gear, so I keep everything together in 1 bag. and so when I go out I have everything with me,... The missus already thinks it's great that I'm with her more than I'm out and about, (#4)... but soon the spare room will be available and I can set up my studio there (and get the big stuff out of the wardrobe) and all that will be a thing of the past.
    although #6 this Martin has mentioned, I sometimes see myself in it too. I really am a bad personvrolijk but that's the striving for perfection that's in me. I also never give this comment if it isn't asked for because this is really annoying. And I usually start with a very positive note. And I even end with it too. Because I'd rather have constructive criticism than condescending criticism, I prefer that myself too vrolijk And I think most people here do.

    I was asked:can you actually take photos with that?
    My answer:I'm still looking for someone who can teach me this.
    When do you have time.Haven't heard anything more.
    Regards,Thieu Niellissen.

    As a press photographer, I know another annoying category. The photographers who 'have to' be right on top of everything and don't give others a chance to get a shot. And then you eventually just stand in front of that photographer or end up with photos that have the other photographer in them. But I also know the copycat. If you post photos on Facebook and someone else later posts photos that are just like them...I had that for a while with someone. Or at events where you seem to give other photographers ideas. Nice that they learn something from me haha.
