Last Thursday was a lovely day to head out with the camera and a model to take photos outdoors. The sun was not out all the time, so it is useful to have a flash with you.

With a bit of flash light, you can create your own sunshine too. In the photo above, I placed a flash behind the model on the right.

On the flash, I put a Rogue Flash Grid and a Rogue Flash Gel Lens (with CTO gel inside). I am currently testing this magnetic setup, and so far it seems like a useful system for compact light modifiers on your on-camera flash.

In this photo, the flash was actually just in the frame, but I cropped the image slightly in the editing so it was no longer visible. By actually including it in the frame, you often get a lovely flare.

Beforehand, I had already driven around the area for a while to look for a spot where there was already some blossom. That meant we could drive straight there during the shoot.

When editing the photo, I changed the colour tone of the photo, among other things, to make the look a little more summery. Below you can see the original unedited photo as it came out of the camera.
