I am the coordinator of the "Het Stroomdal" Kingfisher Working Group and a member of the fieldwork bird working group of the "Het Stroomdal" Nature and Environment Association. The Kingfisher Working Group has kingfisher walls at eight locations, and I built 95% of these walls myself.

Every spare hour, I work on creating suitable locations and maintaining them after the breeding season. I keep doing this until the beginning of April. Besides building kingfisher walls, I also photograph kingfishers at one of the locations.

I do this from a hide I made myself or a small hide tent, which makes me invisible to the birds. Over the years, I have learnt about the kingfisher's way of life in all its aspects and recorded it. As a result, I have unique photos that are not on my website.

It is still great fun to photograph other birds that forage at kingfisher sites, as well as kingfishers. They are a lovely bonus and keep my bird collection nicely varied. This short article features several 'by-catch photos', with a description of each bird.
