Albert van Heugten submitted a photo in response to the rainbow I showed in the article The story behind the photo. In this article, Albert tells us about his photo.

An assignment from my camera club was to capture the four elements. Water, Fire, Earth and Air. I had misunderstood Air and went out to photograph wind.

I soon had the idea of wind in my head, namely wind turbines. I had already shown a photo of these, called Silence before the storm, in the Photofacts Academy VIP course. This time I photographed them from the opposite direction.

The idea was to photograph these wind turbines, five of them, in a line and with a longer shutter speed, so that the blades would suggest wind. I had not yet explored the location, Reuselse moeren, in this way, so I set off in very changeable weather conditions, including hail, rain and sunshine.

I had just arrived and installed my camera on a tripod, but was not yet very happy with the composition, when the sun shone like a spotlight through a gap in the dark clouds, exactly along the edge of the forest. So what do you do? Shoot.

Several times during the course I heard: ''Keep looking around you at your photo location''. That is exactly what I did, and suddenly I saw a rainbow appear.

All I had to do was turn my ball head on the tripod 90 degrees, adjust the shutter speed and aperture, and decide on the composition.

Knowing that the rainbow would not last long, I instinctively chose a composition. Because I work manually, everything was set quickly.

The photos were taken on 4 May 2021 between 18:09 and 18:41. In a period of 32 minutes, I managed to take a photo of wind, air and earth. What a lucky moment.

I managed this partly because of the VIP course, and I feel quite happy with my progress in photography.

The story and photo were published with the permission of Albert van Heugten. Thank you for submitting this photo.
