Tonight, the final of The Perfect Picture was shown on RTL4. The two finalists, Bibi and Stefano, took on three assignments in this final.

A distinctive Terschellinger

The first assignment was on Terschelling. Bibi and Stefano had to make an environmental portrait of a distinctive island resident.

The finalists shot this assignment with the Canon EOS RP fitted with a 24-105mm f/4L lens.

They both managed to find a distinctive Terschellinger. Coincidentally, it turned out afterwards that they were also brother and sister.

Both photographers received a 7.5 from the jury for this assignment. So it was a draw.

Landscape with hidden model

The second final assignment was to photograph a model who would blend completely into the landscape through body painting.

Stefano chose not only to have a model blend into the landscape, but also had a ram added to the image. A well thought-out idea, and it was nice to involve the body painter by asking her what she would like to do.

This assignment was also shot with the Canon EOS RP, this time with the RF 15-35mm f/2.8L wide-angle lens attached.

Bibi won this assignment with her photo. I have to say that I thought they both did very well. The photos ultimately came out much better than the impression you got during the shoot.

Series: Wadden landscape

The third assignment was to make a triptych. This series was of course also for publication in National Geographic Magazine. The aim was to make a series of three photos of the Wadden, with seals visible in at least one of the photos.

The two Dutch celebrities used the Canon EOS RP and the Canon EOS 90D. They could use either the RF 15-35mm f/2.8L or the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L with them.

They were also given the Canon PowerShot Zoom as a sort of pair of binoculars, which they could also use to take photos.

Personally, I did not think Bibi's series really fitted together. In my view, the photo with the three walkers is also simply underexposed. Stefano's photos formed more of a whole.

The winner

The winner of The Perfect Picture 2020 was ultimately Bibi. Both photographers were clearly very evenly matched. Both Dutch celebrities also managed to produce some really lovely photos during the programme.

That's it for another year. We'll have to go without The Perfect Picture for a year again. I'll assume for now that there will be a sixth season. I think it's a very enjoyable programme and hope to see a new group of Dutch celebrities at work next year.
