Adobe has unveiled the latest version of Photoshop Elements. Thanks to the power of Adobe's Sensei AI, Photoshop Elements 2020 adds a whole range of photo effects and photo-editing tools for enthusiasts, including automatic colourisation.

Photoshop Elements has always been about ease of use and accessibility. Every photography enthusiast should be able to achieve great results with the programme, regardless of their photo-editing skill level. Thanks to recent improvements in artificial intelligence and computer vision, this ideal world is now closer than ever.

In Photoshop Elements 2020, it's all about integrating Adobe Sensei AI, using powerful machine-learning technology for both creative effects and standard retouching tasks. With "Auto Creations", you can simulate a shallow depth of field or create an automatic black-and-white selection.

And with one click on subject selection, you can intelligently cut a person out of your frame without having to apply extensive refinement. New skin smoothing lets you improve portraits in one click, and the app can now automatically colourise black-and-white photos.

Here are some examples of what these tools can do:

Alongside these Sensei features, Adobe has also added two 'Guided edits' to Photoshop Elements 2020. They take you through the photo-editing process step by step, so you can learn how to use the programme to complete common retouching tasks.

It should be clear that Photoshop Elements 2020 will not be a professional photographer's favourite editing programme.

But for amateurs and photography enthusiasts who want to improve their images without the hassle of learning, and paying a subscription for, Adobe's full Creative Suite programmes, it's a great option that has just got even better.

Go to the Adobe blog for more information about Photoshop Elements 2020, or its video-editing counterpart Premiere Elements 2020. Photoshop Elements is available today for 100.43 euros as a new installation, or 82.28 euros as an upgrade for current Photoshop Elements users.

The new Guided Edits include one that helps you make "unwanted objects disappear" and another that shows you how to brush a pattern onto a photo.
