The winners of the 2022 World Press Photo competition have been announced today. The competition showcases the best images from photojournalism and documentary photography from the previous year. There were almost 65,000 entries from 4,066 photographers from 1,430 countries.
The World Press Photo of the Year was won by Amber Bracken from Canada, who photographed the Kamloops Residential School for The New York Times

The photo series tells the story of indigenous people who deliberately set fire to the Australian land in a controlled way, a tradition that has been used to manage the land for ten thousand years.
