Winter time: check your camera too

Winter time started again last night. We got to sleep for an extra hour. Many clocks now adjust automatically, and some cameras do too. Just to be sure, it’s worth checking whether the time on your camera has changed automatically.

There is also talk of abolishing daylight saving time, as winter time is actually the normal, correct time. We have used daylight saving time in the Netherlands since 1977. The idea was to save electricity because it would stay light for longer in the evening. However, it has never been proven that it actually resulted in savings.
The main reason for abolishing it now would be that many people find it difficult to adjust to the changed time.
As a nature photographer, returning to normal time in summer would mean getting up even earlier to capture the beautiful morning light. On the other hand, you would have to head out an hour earlier in the evening to take photos of the setting sun.
Are you in favour of abolishing daylight saving time? And which time should we keep? Daylight saving time, normal time, or splitting the difference and keeping it halfway between the two?
