Portrait tip: Use an urbex location

A good way to find a great background for a portrait photo is to look for an urbex location. These are often old, derelict buildings or industrial sites.

In the Netherlands, they are often hard to find, although you may get lucky with an old factory that is still used for cultural purposes, for example.
Old, derelict walls often work very well in a portrait photo. If you also adapt your model's clothing to the location, you can quickly create a beautiful photo.
In the photo above, I lit model Danien with a flashgun in a softbox that was standing in the room next to this one. The light coming in from the side through the door, together with the clothing and the location, adds a ghostly atmosphere to the photo.
