Panasonic has recently introduced the Lumix GH5 Mark II. It is a compact micro 4/3 camera with excellent video capabilities, perfect for filmmakers. The successful predecessor has received a worthy successor.
Panasonic has also announced the development of the Lumix GH6, which will be the top model in the G series.

The announcement of the Panasonic Lumix GH6
At the end of 2021, Panasonic will bring the top model in the micro 4/3 G-series cameras to the market. This will be the Lumix GH6. Unlike many manufacturers, Panasonic has already revealed some details about this camera.
The Lumix GH6 will receive a completely new sensor and Venus Engine image processor. This camera will be able to record 4:2:2 10-bit DCI 4K/60p footage. There will be no limitation on recording duration without suffering from overheating.
The camera will also offer 10-bit 4K 120p High Frame Rate (HFR) and Variable Frame Rate (VFR), along with 10-bit 5.7K 60p video capability.
No images of the camera are available yet. More details about the Panasonic Lumix GH6 will undoubtedly emerge in the coming months leading up to the official launch.
The Panasonic Lumix GH5 Mark II
The successful Lumix GH5 camera has received a successor. This is the Lumix GH5 Mark II. Although the first Lumix GH5 received many firmware updates over time, the time had come for the hardware to be updated. This has now happened.
The camera can record C4K1/4K 60p 4:2:0 10-bit footage and simultaneously output 4K 4:2:2 10-bit images via HDMI. The V-log L function is already installed on the Lumix GH5 Mark II, whereas it was still available as a paid update for the first GH5.
The sensor in the Lumix GH5 Mark II has 20.3 megapixels and features an anti-reflective coating, which should deliver improved image quality.

The latest Venus Engine processor is used to record the images and enable improved autofocus. The processing power makes it possible to detect people, dogs, cats and birds and keep them in focus.
Keeping the Lumix GH5 Mark II steady is possible with built-in, improved image stabilisation. This makes it possible to stabilise by 6.5 stops, which is a 1.5-stop improvement over its predecessor.

There is also a range of small but not insignificant changes. These include a 3-inch tilting touchscreen that has not only 1.84 million pixels, but also improved readability in sunny conditions.
Users of the Lumix GH5 Mark II have a useful waveform monitor and V-log L assistant available on the camera. It also comes with a free set of 35 LUTs for editing V-log L files.

The Panasonic Lumix GH5 Mark II will be available for around 1,700 euros. This makes it cheaper than what its predecessor cost at launch.
In addition, the V-log L option is now available straight away, and you do not have to pay extra for it. The Lumix GH5 Mark II is therefore very competitively priced for a camera with these capabilities.
