In winter, the landscape turns black and white. Ideal for colour photographs! Bright red or canary yellow coats really stand out on these dark days.
All those sporty, colourful coats make it even easier to make a subject stand out. Most people still wear a grey, black or dark blue coat. Boring!
Winter is also the perfect season for atmospheric, stylish black and white. Turned-up collars, people wearing smart hats.
And do head out of the city and onto the beach. People battle their way through the biting wind towards hot chocolate in the beach café. Enthusiastic dogs are caught by a gust of wind and make a little sideways leap.
In winter, keep an eye on your ISO setting, as it is a little darker. You may need to experiment with your white balance, so try setting it to cloudy. It is the perfect time to get to know your camera better by the warm fire.
