Damien Lovegrove is a well-known British photographer who publishes lots of (e)books, runs workshops and releases DVDs. One of his older videos, 'Speedlight Mastery', has been available to watch in full for free since this month.
In the Netherlands, and the rest of the world, he is best known for his workshops and training videos, as well as his blog ProPhotoNut.
He regularly travels the world for workshops and symposiums and also has an excellent grasp of the commercial side of photography, judging by the number of DVDs, workshops and light modifiers he sells.
Here at Photofacts, we have also regularly published reviews of his DVDs, for example Simply Boudoir, or eBooks, such as 'Professional Wedding Photography'.
In 2009, he made the 2.5-hour training video about portrait photography using Speedlights. That video has recently been made available for free via YouTube.
In quite a few setups, Damien shows, while taking photographs, what you can do when you want to take portraits on location, in this case using a couple of portable flashguns without too many expensive accessories.
Of course, the video material is almost 10 years old. The camera and flashes used are dated too. But it is still enjoyable and instructive to see his way of working, and how you can create something good with relatively affordable equipment.
