One of Lightroom's features is assisted selection. This can mean that photos are analysed continuously. Don't want that? Collapse the panel, or turn it off completely.
Assisted selection is a feature that uses image recognition to make selections from large numbers of images. It is mainly intended for photos of people. The photos have to be analysed for this.
This analysis is carried out automatically when the panel is open in the Library module. This can be very inconvenient, and even unwanted. Especially if you have no, or hardly any, photos of people.
You can easily turn it off. The assisted selection panel needs to be collapsed. The photos will then no longer be analysed. You can also turn it off in the catalogue settings.
Open the Metadata tab and untick the boxes for assisted selection. While you're there, also check whether there are any other features you want to turn on or off.
Will you never use assisted selection? Then make the panel invisible. To do this, right-click the title bar of one of the panels.
There, you can untick assisted selection and information about assisted selection. From that moment on, the panel will no longer be visible, and it will no longer bother you either.
