Last night was the final of Het Perfecte Plaatje. I didn't watch the episode at home on the sofa, but at Museum Hilversum, where the exhibition of Het Perfecte Plaatje also opened straight away.

The two finalists, Linda and Geraldine, had three assignments in the final: photographing an Icelandic powerhouse, a fashion shoot in the Icelandic countryside and creating a triptych about the power of nature in Iceland.

Linda won the assignment with her portrait of the firefighter. Neither of them received particularly high marks for this assignment. Understandable, because they are really just very simple portraits. There's nothing much wrong with that, of course, but you can expect a little more in a final.

Iceland Fashion

For the fashion assignment, two models were brought in wearing beautiful dresses. Combined with the beautiful Icelandic landscape, you had to be able to take a top photo, and both finalists did just that.

Linda used the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L for her photo. A logical choice, because she had her model stand further away and composed the shot so that there was water in front of her model, which she had to shoot across.

Geraldine had gone into a cave for her photo and was much closer to her model. The choice of the versatile Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L was therefore no surprise either.

Linda won with her photo and even received a score of 10 from the jury. It really is a beautiful photo, in my opinion.

She was a little lucky that the photo is sharp too. With a shutter speed of 1/100s combined with the telephoto zoom she used, there was a good chance of motion blur. For a bit of extra safety, she could have chosen f/4 or ISO 500, for example.

Linda told me that this was her favourite shoot of the season. The combination of the model, the beautiful dress and the great location made it so.

Iceland triptych

For the final assignment, Linda and Geraldine had to create a series of three photos with 'Force of Nature' as the theme. They were also allowed to use the photo of the Northern Lights that they had already taken in the previous episode of the programme.

The Canon RF 14-35mm f/4: was the favourite lens for this assignment. The only very successful waterfall photo that also featured Geraldine herself was taken with the RF 70-200mm f/2.8L. The 14-35mm was used for the rest.

As I mentioned, I was invited to the opening of the Het Perfecte Plaatje exhibition. By coincidence, I was standing right next to Linda and Geraldine while watching the broadcast together.

It was fun to get some of their own reactions to the programme during the broadcast as well.

You often see the winner of Het Perfecte Plaatje continuing to do a lot with photography after taking part. Linda doesn't seem to be planning this, as you can also hear in the video at the top of this page.

Het Perfecte Plaatje exhibitionAt Museum Hilversum, you can see an exhibition of both seasons of Het Perfecte Plaatje from this year in the coming weeks. So both this season and Het Perfecte Plaatje in Argentina, from earlier this year.

You can visit the exhibition until 8 January 2023. The museum is also open on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. It is closed on New Year's Day.

Met stip het slechtste seizoen. Blijkbaar zitten er geen BN’ers meer in het blik met knoppendrukkers die toneel spelen.

Hallo Elja,
Ik zou een kanttekening willen maken over de te gebruiken apparatuur die door Kamera Express ter beschikking wordt gesteld en soms de eisen en opmerkingen van de jury. Het is mij al een aantal seizoenen opgevallen dat altijd de beste amateur apparatuur met bijbehorende lenzen worden gebruikt, waar de Nederlandse hobby fotograaf soms likke barend naar staat te kijken. Het gaat tenslotte over amateurs die een stoomcursus krijgen in fotografie waar een ander soms enkele jaren over doet om dat alle maal onder de knie te krijgen en in veel gevallen financieel gezien ervoor moet sparen om zo'n soort set bij elkaar te krijgen.
Daarnaast krijgen zij bij het bewerken ook de duurste schermen en software voor hun neus waar menig amateur van droomt. Het zou allemaal wat minder kunnen dan kom je dichter bij werkelijke Nederlandse hobby/amateur fotograaf.
Een beroemde fotograaf heeft ooit eens gezegd dat het niet uitmaakt wat voor soort camera je gebruikt maar de persoon die hem hanteert en hoe deze kijkt naar het onderwerp wat op het plaatje komt. En daar op aansluitend de opmerkingen van de jury soms te veeleisend zijn in verhouding van de personen die dat dan moeten doen. Als men fotografie breed wil beleven in Nederland hou dan het walletje bij het schuurtje. Maak anders eens een perfect plaatje met beroeps fotografen als bijv. Nando en jij zelf of met dhr. Rutte en mw. Bol. Zet dan gelijk waardige personen in een groep en dan eens zien wat daar uit komt.
