Last night there was another episode of Het Perfecte Plaatje. In this episode, the remaining candidates had to do a boat-to-boat shoot and make a documentary-style religious photo.
Boat-to-boat
The first assignment was to take an action photo of windfoiling. This is a kind of evolution of surfing in which the surfboard rises out of the water while surfing, thanks to a hydrofoil. A kind of wing under the water, similar to a hydrofoil boat.
A special sport that involves high speeds. Quite a challenge for the Dutch celebrities, who were allowed to capture this from a speedboat.
The candidates got to work with the Canon EOS 6D mark II fitted with an EF 16-35mm f/4L IS wide-angle lens. This meant they also had to get quite close to the action to capture it properly.
Watersports photographer Sander van der Borch came to help the Dutch celebrities and was also the guest judge for this shoot.

Kees won with the photo above and, in my view, was the deserved winner. There could indeed have been a little more done with it in post-processing.
He used an aperture of f/20 so he could still work with slow shutter speeds. A sharp image taken from a moving speedboat at speed, with a shutter speed of just 1/60th, is quite an achievement, or a lucky shot.

Religious shoot
The second assignment was to photograph a religious person. The photo had to have a documentary style. Based on the scores from the first assignment, the Dutch celebrities could choose a particular religion.
For this shoot, Ahmet Polat was the expert who helped the candidates get started and was also the guest judge, of course.
With a follower of the religion in question as their guide, they went out into Amsterdam to take their photo. They used the Canon EOS M50 mirrorless camera and could use either a fast 50mm or the 15-45mm kit lens.

Jamie was the winner of this assignment. He took a beautiful portrait of a woman who follows the Winti faith.
I also thought Kees and Steven's photos were quite successful. If Steven had paid a little more attention to the light, I think this could have been the winning photo. The harsh sunlight is drawing quite a lot of attention now.
Christina's photo was a real shame, of course. She took a beautiful photo of a mosque, but did not include a person in the frame. Her guide was perfectly happy to be photographed. She was clearly getting in her own way during this shoot.
And that was particularly unfortunate, because it meant she had to leave the programme this week.

Next week
Next week, the candidates will go to Texel to take landscape photos and make a crime-scene fashion photo. I think these are two fun subjects again.
