Last night, the seven remaining Dutch celebrities took on two new assignments: taking a selfie in Rembrandt style and photographing an animal from below.
Selfie in Rembrandt style
For the first assignment, the photographers gathered at the Zaanse Schans. A beautiful location for the assignment they had to complete: taking a selfie in the style of Rembrandt van Rijn.
This 17th-century Dutch painter is, of course, known for his paintings with beautiful light. Most photographers are therefore familiar with Rembrandt lighting.
Guest judge and photographer Gemmy Woud-Binnendijk helped the celebrities get started with this shoot. Her instructions, combined with the beautiful, fitting location, clothing and make-up, produced some lovely photos.

Christina won the shoot, but I thought they had all taken successful photos. For this shoot, the contestants worked with the Canon EOS RP and an RF 24-105mm f/4 lens. Combined with Canon's smartphone app to take the selfie.
Animals from below
The second assignment was photographing animals from below. The animals were placed on a sheet of glass for this. They could choose the background colour themselves by hanging a different background roll above the animal.
Photographer Inge Jansen was the guest judge and helped the celebrities get started. For this shoot, they had to work with the Canon EOS 6D mark II fitted with the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II. So it was actually a fairly similar setup to the first shoot.

Working with animals is, of course, always difficult, especially when you have limited time. I thought they had taken some fairly decent photos, but the judging panel was quite strict during this shoot. As a result, only low scores were handed out.
Home assignment
Next week, you can take part in the home assignment again. This week's assignment is to take a perfect photo with Rembrandt lighting. In the video on Canon's channel, you will get tips on how to achieve this.

Then you can judge fairly, what are you supposed to do with a tarantula, for example, although others could have made more of it. The Rembrandt shoot was fun but it can't be otherwise than that they were helped with the lighting, you also saw all kinds of people by the lights and the windows. Not so strange if you're just starting out but in my humble opinion those photos are not just their own work. Notable detail, a number already didn't know how to handle a tripod, let alone lighting with lamps, reflectors etc.
