Dreamy, creative nature photography with a Lensbaby

I used to always look for ways to make an image more beautiful and better. These days, I ask myself more often how it could be different. That forces me to be more creative and resourceful when taking photos.

It is a matter of trying and practising a lot, and above all looking for those images that bring joy to my heart. I would like to share my experiences and photos with you from a search for more satisfaction and creativity in photography.

Inspiration in nature

I enjoy beautifully photographed landscapes, animals, flowers and so on, but my heart really skips a beat with dreamy photography, such as backlighting, bokeh, distortion and multiple exposure.

For example, I love the distortion you can create with a creative lens, but it can just as easily come from playing with multiple exposure (ME) or moving the camera (ICM).

Actually, it is the lack of sharpness in an image that fascinates me most, especially when only a minimal amount of sharpness is used.

I like working with Lensbaby lenses that you can tilt and use in combination with an aperture or effects ring, allowing you to create that characteristic blur and movement.

Every lens has its own character, but whichever one I pick, it is always a joy for me. Since I started photographing with the Canon R (mirrorless camera), this enjoyment has only increased, because what I see is actually captured.

With my DSLR, the exposure was often still lacking, either too dark or too light, and I had to take photos several times.

Is it Lensbaby all the way? No, of course not. I also like using my 24-105mm for multiple exposures or painting with light. A telephoto zoom to isolate or compress something, depending on the subject and the conditions.

However, whatever equipment I use, I am usually focused on how I can show something familiar in a different way, keeping the eye engaged for longer.

That requires patience and concentration, lots of trying, studying failures and trying again.

And it still happens often enough that I am ecstatic in the field, only to be disappointed by the result on the screen. But I have been able to really express myself, recharge my energy and perhaps come up with new ideas.

And that is really what counts: enjoying photography!

Mooi dat je zo precies kunt aangeven wat je zoekt in een foto en het ook nog (waarschijnlijk steeds beter) kunt vastleggen.
