Fujifilm has announced the Fujifilm GFX 50R today. A 51.4-megapixel medium format camera that looks a lot like the Fujifilm GFX 50S, but is also around 2,000 dollars cheaper.

The body is slightly smaller, which I think is mainly a plus, and the electronic viewfinder is now on the side of the camera instead of on top. The viewfinder also has 3.7 million dots, just like the viewfinder in the 50S. The viewfinder is slightly smaller, though.
The CMOS sensor is also the same as the one in the 50S. On the back of the camera, you will find a 3.2-inch touchscreen that can only be tilted, not swivelled. You can take 3 photos per second with the camera. It looks a bit like a large Fujifilm X-E3.

Video is also possible, of course. This is in full HD at up to 30 frames per second. A fairly basic video function, then, but that is not why photographers will buy this camera.
The Fujifilm GFX 50R has 2 SD(XC) card slots. It also has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. You can of course connect it with a cable as well, and this uses the nice modern USB-C cable.
Price and availability
The new camera should be in shops in November and the price in America is 4,500 dollars. The expectation is that the price in euros will be roughly comparable.
This price is of course extremely low for a camera like this. It is still not a cheap purchase, of course, but for a camera like this it really is a bargain.
New G lenses
Fujifilm has also announced three new G lenses. These are a compact 50mm f/3.5 R LM WR, a 100-200mm f/5.6 R LM OIS WR and a 45-100mm f/4 R LM OIS. The two zoom lenses have image stabilisation.
Fujifilm GFX 100 megapixel
Fujifilm has also indicated that it is working on a larger sibling to the GFX 50S. This camera has a 100-megapixel sensor and can record video in 4K resolution. The price will be around 10,000 dollars.
