Fujifilm has launched a unique new camera. The Instax Mini Evo Cinema camera has a striking design and a kind of built-in time machine.
You may have heard of Fujifilm's instant cameras. They are playful cameras for simple photos that are printed straight from the camera. The Instax Mini Evo Cinema takes this a step further, with video as well.
The striking design is reminiscent of antique film cameras. And that is the idea. The back has a small screen and three buttons with a scroll wheel. You can fit an eyecup to the screen.
The side has a prominent button with a selection of years ranging from 1930 to 2020. This makes it possible to shoot video and photos in the style of that period. All photos are saved at a resolution of 5 megapixels.
The main focus, however, is video. The resolution is not high, just 600 x 800 pixels and 1440 x 1080 pixels if you choose the year 2020. There is a limit of 15 seconds, but with the Evo phone app you can combine several videos into one of up to 30 seconds.
The Instax Mini Evo Cinema can make prints straight away. Both of photos and stills from a video. This camera is therefore not aimed at high quality, but at fun and the experience.
