One of the online courses included in the 5DayDeal bundle is Finding Rembrandt by New York photographer Chris Knight. In this online course, you learn how to create portraits using the famous Rembrandt lighting.

Chris Knight Finding Rembrandt

Chris combines his unconditional love of art with his conditional love of technology and his cinematic, uncompromising eye for detail. Chris has a very unique way of taking photographs. He often uses low-key dramatic lighting that imitates the style of old masters.

Why Rembrandt?

There is a reason why photographers know Rembrandt by name. Chris spends quite a bit of time discussing the history of Rembrandt and portraiture, and how his historical influence is still felt today.

He shows you how to apply the styles of the old masters to your photos to create timeless results.

Through lighting, styling, colour and more, you discover the ingredients of some of the most memorable works in history, as well as how to apply these concepts to your own images.

Chris shows you how to create depth in your images and how to harness the power of highlights and shadows with incredibly simple, yet powerful, lighting setups. After taking this course, you can use the artistic techniques of some of the greatest portraitists and paint with light.

Who is it for?

>Intermediate and advanced photographers who have at least some understanding of studio lighting and basic camera skills.

What did I think?

Chris is a very good teacher who can explain things in an engaging yet very understandable way. He goes quite deeply into the history, which can quickly become boring. However, he manages to keep it particularly lively, while also explaining well why he goes into so much depth.

He shows the lighting setups clearly and well, as well as their effects on the photos. I found it very informative and learnt a lot from it, even though I have already experimented quite a bit with this subject myself. There is still so much to learn!
