Komt Canon ook met een retrocamera?

Over the past few weeks, I have been playing with the wonderful Fujifilm X100VI. Its retro look and controls make photography great fun. Nikon has the Zf, which is also a beautiful camera with retro looks and controls. Will Canon soon release a retro model?

Canon AE-1

Last year, during the Photo & Imaging show in Shanghai, someone from Canon did hint that they were working on something similar. Nothing official, of course.

The expectation is that Canon would follow Nikon's route, with a retro-style mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses. So not a camera with a fixed lens like Fujifilm. The retro Canon could then use all existing and future RF lenses.

Would you find such a camera interesting?

A retro look is of no importance to me. The camera and software simply need to be technically sound. What kind of casing is around it is of no importance. Here, the commercial interests are trying to stir up nostalgic feelings in consumers purely to benefit themselves. Maybe fun for the older people among us, but young people, in my opinion, aren't losing any sleep over that retro look. Me neither. Such a retro-look camera would only really be retro if you could only take photographs with it.

I've worn out a number of FT-QLs and am still looking, out of nostalgia, for a nice example to put in the display cabinet 😊

I share your opinion, as a hobby photographer all that video stuff can be removed. Pure stills camera, like Hasselblad for example (but too expensive for me)

I still have an FTb-QL. >40 years old and still in perfect condition.
Plan to put it back into use shortly, alongside my R6 II vrolijk
