Photographer and YouTuber Mathieu Stern recently visited one of the coolest places on earth for camera collectors: The Camera Rescue Project, one of Europe's largest vintage camera collections.
The Camera Rescue Project is a Finnish organisation dedicated to preserving cameras for future generations. Their stated aim is to find, repair and 'rescue' 100,000 vintage cameras by 2020. And according to the project's homepage, they are about halfway there.
And who better to visit and show you around their base in Finland than Mathieu Stern, an expert in rare lenses and a vintage equipment enthusiast?
The start of the video consists of a tour of the Kamera Store showroom, where cameras from the rescued Camera Rescue Project are sold, before diving into the actual heart of the project, where they are currently working on repairing around 2,000 old cameras while receiving hundreds more.
In the end, Stern walks away with a handful of cool new 'rare lenses' to test in Finland, but that will be the subject of a completely different video.
If you want to take a look at the Camera Rescue Project and learn more about this amazing vintage camera repair business, watch the full video above or check out This deep dive by Cameraville from earlier this year.
