Landscape photographer Andy Mumford shares the three things he wishes he had known earlier as a landscape photographer in this video. That way, you don't have to discover them yourself.
The three tips from Andy:
1. It's not always about the light
Beginner landscape photographers often think you can only go out to take beautiful landscape photos when the light is gorgeous. But that means you miss many opportunities to take beautiful photos.
Even if you don't come home with beautiful photos, taking photos is still always good practice. You can take beautiful photos in any light.
2. It's not about your equipment
It's tempting to keep looking at the latest cameras, lenses and accessories. Ultimately, your photo isn't about resolution or dynamic range.
You can take beautiful photos with any camera. The most important thing is that you know your camera well and know how to use it properly.
3. Don't force it
Sometimes a photo simply doesn't work. Don't spend too long trying to get the photo you had in mind. Look for another subject instead.
Above all, look around carefully before getting started with what you had in mind beforehand. There may be a better photo to be found at the same location that is much more interesting.
