Dave Cox is a car photographer from Los Angeles who wanted to keep his creativity flowing while he was stuck at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. What he came up with is a new project called #CARonaVirus.
I felt really trapped and a bit uninspired during quarantine, says Cox. But while I was out walking, I saw some cool old cars parked in my area. Then a wave of creativity came over me.
Under normal circumstances, Cox would contact the owners of the cars and set up location shoots, but that wasn't an option during the lockdown in California. So Cox decided to simply photograph the cars where he found them parked.
I would go out again at night and light-paint them where they were parked, no staging, no coordination, just shooting", says Cox. 'One exposure for the background and one for the car. Super quick and rough, but great fun at the same time.
