Light painting: a creative form of photography

A few years ago, I started experimenting with light painting. That was short-lived, as I did little with it. Now I have picked it up again and started practising. It is far from perfect, but it does not have to be. Not yet.
Light painting is fun to do. You can make simple circles with a light stick or lightsaber. You can swing burning steel wool around. But there is so much more you can do with it.
I started picking this up again half a year ago. Slowly, as I was busy with my book about star trails. My first serious attempt was drawing swans. I wrote about it in an article.
I have now continued practising and it is great fun to do. Not just some circles or burning steel wool, but something more than that. This has resulted in a light painting of a tree.

Practice makes perfect, as the saying goes. And that is what I will be doing over the coming months, or the coming year. That is and remains the secret to achieving the desired results. I do not yet know how my results will turn out. I am simply enjoying the process.
