Taking landscape photos is very accessible. You often do not even have to go far to take a beautiful landscape photo. Especially when the light is good, every place can have its own appeal. Sometimes even a simple object in a landscape can be very atmospheric in the right light.

In this article, I want to show you a series of photos for inspiration. I did not go looking for fantastic faraway locations, but simply stayed close to home. Photos of places you may pass every day, places surrounded by buildings, or roads.

I want to inspire you to take beautiful photos close to home too, simply by heading out. On foot or by bike. Close to home, where you can be there quickly when the conditions become beautiful.

All the photos were taken around and within the built-up area. Never more than a 30-minute walk or bike ride away, using compositions, viewpoints and focal lengths to keep buildings and other distracting elements out of the frame.

Dear Nando, your article was very inspiring, especially because the photos were all taken within a small radius around the place where you live. The photos are beautiful, and yet you didn't have to travel to the other side of the world for them.
Can you say around what time of day you took them? And had you often been to those same places before without being able to take a photo?

The times vary. Some around sunset, others around sunrise. You can easily pick those out. A few at dusk, but also certainly a number of them simply during the day, such as the one of the bridge, the rainbow, and the forest path.
I know these places well. So that makes it easier to go there when the conditions are suitable or become suitable.

Wonderful photos, indeed you don't have to go far from home to be able to take photos like these.
I walk in my immediate surroundings almost every morning, and I am still regularly surprised by the beauty of my surroundings.

The downside is that a walk can quickly take too long, so sometimes I have to leave the camera at home to be back on time. Or you have a nice walking pace, and then I can't find the peace and quiet for a beautiful composition.
