The fifth season of Het Perfecte Plaatje started on RTL4 today. In the first episode, the Dutch celebrities photographed each other and worked with high-speed photography.

Uber Masculine or Feminine Portrait

The first assignment was to create an Uber masculine or feminine portrait. They were allowed to use each other as models. Each photographer was paired with one of the other participants and they had a total of two hours to take the photos.

They were at the luxury Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin in Noordwijk for this. Photographer Linda Stulic gave the contestants tips for taking the photos.

Indeed, a strong portrait that fits the assignment well. Patricia took a good photo of Jannie.

In the video below, Linda gives tips for portrait photography.

High-speed Photography

The second assignment was to create a high-speed photo. The Dutch celebrities were given a product to photograph while a bullet or arrow was fired through it.

Quite a technically challenging assignment, but most of the technical work was taken out of their hands by photographer Ellen Reus. She also helped judge this assignment.

Fun detail, a few years ago Ellen also wrote a blog on Photofacts about high-speed photography, including a number of images that are reminiscent of this episode.

In my eyes, this is also a very successful photo. Though I perhaps liked the water balloon and the glass of coffee even better.

Home Assignment

As in previous years, there is another home assignment. This first week's assignment is to create your own Uber masculine or feminine portrait. The winning photo receives a voucher worth 449 euros, to spend at Kamera Express.

Next Week

In the second episode, the Dutch celebrities will photograph birds of prey at Valkerij Het Muithuis, and it looks like they will photograph each other again. This time, the theme is 'the age of wigs'.

If you missed the programme, you can watch it again via RTL XL. I suspect this is also how Belgians can watch the programme. Unfortunately, there are costs involved.

I certainly enjoyed this first episode again. I did notice that the programme now lasts an hour and a half. Personally, I thought an hour was fine, but now it feels a bit long.

There are also two extra episodes this season compared with previous years.

What did you think of the first episode?

Haha

    @Theotje.
