Nice article. I'm curious what you'll think of that 5.2mm Canon fisheye. It will probably come with quite a price tag because it's an L lens. I have the TTArtisan APS-C 7.5mm F/2.0 Canon RF mount myself. Also a nice little lens and cheap. Fully manual, though, but that did make it exciting to work with.

@Elja, I can't really call this lens a Fisheye. In fact, it's a dual lens whose 2 images are merged into a 3D shot for which you always have to use 3D glasses to be able to see the effect. Without such glasses, you can't do anything with such a photo to show to a large audience. Typically a lens for specialists. Don't get me wrong, that's fine, but it has little use for the hobbyist.
Then I see more use for the Fisheye that I use. In combination with a crop camera (R7), it produces acceptable images. With the right distance from the subject, the lines remain nice and straight and you have virtually no distortion in the center of the image.

Yes, it is indeed a lens with a very specific purpose. That naturally also makes it interesting.

These days, there are more and more ways to view 3D footage. From the traditional red-cyan glasses to a complete headset like the Apple Vision Pro or a Meta Quest 3.

The lens also produces two images, each with a viewing angle of 190 degrees. This can be converted into a 3D image that you can look around in. That is of course also what makes the experience of 'as if you were really there' so realistic.
