Are you planning a portrait shoot soon? It can be quite exciting for you, but certainly for your model too. Your photos will be better if your model feels at ease. This article gives you a few short, practical tips for a relaxed shoot.
Put some music on and, if necessary, ask your model what kind of music they like. Offer your model something to eat and drink.
Working in a studio? Don't lock your studio, as that can come across as threatening. If it is necessary, leave the key in the door and tell your model that.
Provide a space where your model can get changed privately and give them a short tour beforehand, so they know where, for example, the toilets are.
Remember and use your model's name during the photo session. Addressing someone by their name immediately makes it feel much more personal and familiar.
Not everyone is equally good at remembering names. If you find it a bit more difficult, learn your model's name by heart before the photo session begins.
