Canon has released another new RF lens for mirrorless cameras. The RF 14-35mm f/4L IS USM is its widest RF wide-angle zoom lens to date. It complements the existing f/4 lenses, completing the f/4 lens trinity.

It is not the first ultra-wide-angle zoom lens that Canon has released for mirrorless cameras. The RF 14-35mm f/4L IS USM has a maximum aperture of f/4 instead of the f/2.8 of the other, previously released RF 15-35mm f/2.8L. This makes the lens smaller and easier to carry.
The RF 14-35mm f/4L IS USM features an image stabilisation system that can compensate for up to 5.5 stops of movement. In theory, this means you could already take sharp handheld photos at a 14mm focal length with a shutter speed of 1 second.
When you use this lens on a camera with built-in image stabilisation, you get as much as 7 stops of image stabilisation.

I already mentioned the lens trinity. Traditionally, these are the three lenses that give you access to all the important focal lengths in principle. Combine the RF 14-35mm f/4L with the RF 24-105mm f/4L and the RF 70-200mm f/4L, and you have a range from 14mm to 200mm.
