Nikon has announced two new lenses. The Nikkor Z 70-180mm and the Nikkor Z 160-600mm. They are two lenses that could appeal to a large group of photographers each. Especially the Z 160-600mm will be a welcome lens.
The Z 160-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR is a lens that was in high demand. Until recently, Nikon users had to rely on the 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR, which had to be used with the FTZ adapter.

At 1955 grams, the Nikkor Z 160-600mm is perfect for handheld photography. It will therefore appeal to all wildlife and bird photographers. The lens can be combined with a 1.4x and 2x teleconverter, extending the range to 840mm and 1200mm respectively.
The image stabilisation also helps when shooting handheld. The 5.5 stops of stabilisation allow you to use somewhat slower shutter speeds, or to compensate for camera shake. The lens has a completely internal zoom mechanism, keeping its length and balance the same at every focal length.
The second lens is the Nikkor Z 70-180mm f/2.8. This fast telephoto zoom lens completes the trinity of budget-friendly fast lenses. It fits perfectly alongside the 17-28mm f/2.8 and the 28-75mm f/2.8.

The Z 70-180mm weighs 785 grams, with a minimum focusing distance of 27cm at 70mm and 85cm at 180mm. The lens can also be used with teleconverters.
The Z 180-600mm is expected to cost around 2,300 euros, while the Z 70-200 is expected to cost around 1,500 euros. Although this is still a fair amount of money, the alternatives are still much more expensive.
