Adobe has released a great update for Lightroom and Lightroom Classic today. The smart masks that have been in the programme since last year have now been expanded.
I'm particularly pleased that you can now automatically select the background as well. You could already do this by inverting the automatic mask of your subject, but that did require an extra step. You no longer need to take that extra step.
Even better is the option to detect people and automatically create selections for them. This means you can specifically select your model's skin, for example. Ideal if you want to soften it slightly and quickly.
Objects are also easier, and especially faster, to select with the new masking tools.
You can now download the new versions of Lightroom directly through the CreativeCloud app, provided you have an Adobe membership, of course. Adobe Camera RAW and the programme's mobile apps have also been updated.
The update also requires an update to your catalogue. This is carried out automatically the first time you start the new version.
