The annual Adobe software update was released in October 2025. Lightroom and Lightroom Classic have gained several interesting new features.

Maybe you have already updated to the new version of Lightroom. If you use Lightroom Classic, the catalogue also needs to be updated. It will once again get a new version number suffix.

If you want to use a more logical name for your new catalogue, change the catalogue name. You can do this via the menu > File > Rename Catalogue. This gets rid of all those version numbers straight away.

There are several noticeable new options, as well as some less noticeable ones. Automatic dust removal is now available, which is very useful. You can zoom while using the Crop tool, making it possible to create precise crops.

Snow has been added to the existing image elements recognised by the automatic landscape masks. If you use Point Color, you can change the colour variance. This is ideal for things such as blemishes in your model's skin.

For Generative Remove, Lightroom now recognises shadows automatically. Previously, you had to select them yourself, but now this is done for you. Removing reflections has also been improved.

The most noticeable addition is Assisted Culling. You can find this in the Library module, and it is available during import. It helps Lightroom select the best photos according to a number of criteria.

Assisted Culling is aimed at portrait photography. It is still in the early access phase. This means the final version of this option may be better, different, or have more options.
