A fun creative way to add something extra to your photo is to deliberately point your flash towards your lens. You usually try to avoid this, but it is a fun way to make your photo stand out.
By pointing flash light into your lens, you often get some unexpected results. For example, you can create lens flare this way. Place the flash just inside or just outside the frame and fire it directly into your lens. Modern lenses do their best to prevent lens flare. With special coatings and, of course, a lens hood. So take that lens hood off your camera.
It can also help not to clean your lens properly: deliberately leave the front glass element, or a filter you have fitted, dusty and dirty for once. You can also breathe onto your lens to create a beautiful haze, as in the photo above.
