Tonight we got to watch another episode of Het Perfecte Plaatje. In the elimination round, the assignments were to capture emotion at Efteling and create a 1950s fashion photo with someone from their own family.
Emotion in the amusement park
For the first assignment, the participants went to Efteling. At the amusement park, the Dutch celebrities had to capture emotion. In theory, not that difficult in an amusement park, but in practice it proved quite a challenge.

1950s fashion with family
The second assignment was much more popular with the participants. At the Spoorwegmuseum in Utrecht, they were allowed to take photos of someone from their own family. The shoot had to produce a fashion photo with a 1950s look. Make-up and clothing were provided.
The guest judge for this assignment was fashion photographer Roger Neve. The Dutch celebrities got to work with the Canon EOS 90D DSLR and an EF 24-70mm f/2.8 lens.
They were also allowed to use flashes during this assignment, and a smoke machine was used when requested.

It was noticeable how much better the photos from this assignment were compared with the previous one. I think it really helped that guest jury member Roger actively helped the candidates and that both the location and the clothing were perfectly arranged.

Eliminated
Ruth had to leave the show this week. I think that was fair, and I believe she thought so herself to some extent.

Het is vooral een reclamespotje voor Canon en de deelnemers krijgen zoveel ondersteuning van de beroepsfotografen en alles wat er nog meer omheen loopt dat iedereen die je willekeurig van de straat zou plukken ook tot deze resultaten zou kunnen komen.

En dan iedere keer weer die bekende Nederlanders, waarom nemen ze niet eens gewoon een aantal hobbyfotografen?
Al met al is het voor mij nu helemaal zeker dat ik niet meer ga kijken. -

Fotoshoot in de efteling had als opdracht emotie maar je moest ook aan de omgeving kunnen zien waar de emotie vandaan kwam. Maar om emotie te zien moet je wel inzoomen op de gezichten waarmee het dan ook onmogelijk is om aan de hand van de omgeving te zien waar je bent en hoe die emotie tot stand komt. Natuurlijk zijn de resultaten van een behoorlijk niveau, anders kijkt er niemand meer naar natuurlijk. Het valt me steeds vaker op dat de resultaten slechter zijn naar mate de opdracht onduidelijker of onmogelijker wordt.
