Tonight, another episode of Het Perfecte Plaatje was shown on RTL4. In this episode, the five remaining candidates photographed landscapes on Texel and made a crime scene fashion photo.

Texel landscape

The first assignment was to make a landscape photo on Texel. The idea was to make a photo that would make the people of Texel proud of their island.

Two photographers got started in the evening and the other three were allowed to take their photos early in the morning. Judging purely by the weather, the morning group was luckier. With much less cloud, the light was far more interesting.

Landscape photographer Bas Meelker was the guest judge and expert for this assignment, helping the candidates on their way. Would you like help from Bas yourself? Then make sure you check out his Masterclass Landschapsfotografie video course on Photofacts Academy.

The celebrities used the Canon EOS RP full-frame system camera for this shoot, fitted with a Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 L IS wide-angle zoom lens.

Froukje won this assignment with the photo above. A deserved winner in my eyes. I also thought Daphne's photo was very successful. The women clearly did better than the men this round.

Crime scene fashion shoot

The second assignment was to make a fashion photo, but in a crime scene style. As if you arrive just after the murder. Quite a fun assignment, I thought.

The expert and guest judge for this assignment was fashion photographer Evely Duis. The candidates worked with a Canon EOS 6D mark II fitted with a 24-70mm f/2.8L II lens. A great setup for a shoot like this.

Jamie won this shoot, also a deserved winner in my view. An atmospheric photo in which many details come together nicely.

Daphne's photo, with the model in the water, had a lot of potential. As the jury also pointed out, it was mainly a shame that the model kept her head above water. As a result, she indeed doesn't look 'dead' in this photo.

A shame, because I thought the red dress in the dark water, the reflection of the building and the composition were otherwise quite strong.

Steven had to leave the programme this week. I also found his landscape photo rather unimpressive, but I thought the photo of the maid on the bed was nowhere near as bad as the jury did.

Home assignment

This week's home assignment is to make a Dutch landscape photo. There are useful tips on Canon's YouTube channel again.

Next week

Next week, the celebrities will photograph a loved one, someone from their own circle of acquaintances, and join a secret operation by the Marechaussee.
