Last night there was another new episode of The Perfect Picture. This week, the six remaining Dutch celebrities got to work photographing water polo and artistic photos with children.

Water polo action

The first assignment was photographing the Dutch men's team during a water polo training session. Sports photographer Marcel ter Bals came to give the contestants some tips and was the guest judge for the shoot.

The water polo assignments were shot with the Canon EOS R6. A waterproof housing was available, which allowed them to photograph from the water in combination with the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II.

The Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L was also available, allowing them to photograph from the side of the pool. I could certainly see the logic in that choice, as I recently used it to photograph my daughter's swimming certificate ceremony.

Strange eyes

The second assignment was 'strange eyes'. The idea was that the celebrities had to make an artistic portrait of children, replacing the eyes in the portrait with something else.

Quite a fun, creative assignment. A lot of beautiful photos were taken too. The expert for this assignment was fine-art photographer Monique Roodenburg. The photos were taken in the studio of Linda van den Broek.

The contestants got to work with the Canon EOS 90D DSLR camera. The advantage of this camera is that it has a higher resolution than the R6.

For the lenses, they could choose between the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III and the EF 50mm f/1.8 STM. Surprisingly, there was no 24-70mm, which in my view would have been the more logical choice here.

The 50mm is mainly a fun lens for experimenting with a shallow depth of field at an affordable price, but that was not really relevant for this studio shoot with flashes. Only Maik chose this lens for his photos. The other contestants used the zoomed-in end of the 16-35mm.
