Fresh from the press: Nikon has developed a new full-frame mirrorless camera and aims to have it on the market by spring 2019.
NikonEye picked up the confirmation in an interview conducted by Japanese television network NHK with a Nikon manager.

Development is under way and we expect it to be brought to market next spring, says the manager.
NikonEye predicts that the first camera to be announced will be an entry-level full-frame mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses.
This camera will feature a 30+ megapixel phase-detection sensor and a new lens mount that will allow existing F-mount lenses to focus using an adapter.
A Sony executive predicted last month that both Canon and Nikon would release full-frame mirrorless cameras within a year.
This month, a Japanese news outlet reported that development of Nikon's professional mirrorless camera is progressing at a very fast pace and that the launch will probably take place around March 2019.
At present, apart from Leica, Sony is actually the only major player in the market for mirrorless cameras with a full-frame sensor. Canon has not yet released a full-frame mirrorless camera with an electronic viewfinder either.
Canon is reportedly now prepared to produce fewer SLR cameras, allowing the company to focus fully on mirrorless cameras. Canon does already have mirrorless cameras with interchangeable lenses, such as the EOS M5, but these have APS-C sensors.
Nikon has previously released a mirrorless camera with a 1-inch sensor and interchangeable lenses, the Nikon 1.

Yannick wrote on Thursday 10 May 2018 at 21:11 | reply@richard.
