Yesterday, I photographed buildings with 21 members of my camera club in the immediate vicinity of Utrecht Central Station. Totally not my thing, but that is exactly what makes a camera club so much fun. Photographing things you would not otherwise photograph.

It was grey, dull and windy yesterday. So not exactly the best weather. On the other hand, it can produce dramatic skies and amusing situations, if you are more into street photography.

For our day out, we took the train from Wijchen to Utrecht Central. From there, we did not actually walk very far. There is already plenty to photograph directly around the station.

Yesterday in Utrecht, I mainly focused on capturing lines and shapes. That seemed like a good approach. Looking back, I perhaps should have tried some more street photography as well. This area is also very suitable for that, of course.

I brought a relatively compact kit with me, just my Canon EOS R5 with the 24-70mm, plus my 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens as an extra. In the end, I only switched approaches during lunch, with the idea of taking different photos after lunch than before.

The fun thing about heading out to take photos with a group is always seeing the difference between the photos everyone produces. I had already seen some wonderful photos from other members appearing in the Camera Club app. I always think, 'Why didn't I see that?'

Maybe next time I should look at the Architectural Photography course before I head out. I had a lovely day with the camera club, but my photos could certainly have been better.
