Portrait photography tip: Take the photo that feels right

Photography isn't just about technique. Of course, it helps to know how to set up your camera and what attractive poses are. But an important part is also how the photo feels to you.

You can use all the knowledge you've built up over your life when taking your portraits. Not by thinking about it too deeply, but by acting on your instincts.
If you're not completely satisfied while taking the photos, change something about the image and take a new photo. Try lots of different things and go with your gut. This way, you can easily work out what does and doesn't work.
You can also make good use of your instincts when selecting photos. I always go through my photos incredibly quickly. If a photo stands out positively within a fraction of a second, you know it straight away. That's the photo you should work with.
