Panasonic has announced the Lumix S 35mm f/1.8 today. The new lens is a full-frame prime lens for the L-mount. This mount is a collaboration between Leica, Panasonic and Sigma.

The lens has eleven elements in nine groups. Like other 'S' lenses, it is weather- and dust-resistant. The aperture consists of 9 blades and you can focus from 0.24 metres.

Being able to focus this close is very useful, by the way. I have previously been annoyed by 35mm lenses that could not focus this close. That really does limit their usefulness.

Panasonic has also announced that an 18mm f/1.8 is in development.

The Panasonic Lumix S 35mm f/1.8 will be available at the end of this month and will cost around 700 euros.

Seems like an interesting lens!
L-mount... A Canon 6D, does it have an L-mount?
Thanks in advance for the response!

@Jacqueline:
L-mount is Leica mount. That has nothing to do with Canon's L lenses.
So this lens does not fit on a Canon.
