Last week, Profoto announced the new B10, a small flash with plenty of power. The B10 is only slightly larger than a medium-sized zoom lens and has five times the power of a regular speedlight.

Size matters, it does, says Profoto. It certainly matters how much equipment you have to carry, as well as how much space you have to work in. It's just as important that you can move and work quickly to get the job done.

That's exactly why Profoto considered the dimensions first, before looking for a new wireless off-camera flash.

The kit fits in your bag, along with the rest of your equipment, and because it's wireless and lightweight, you can easily take it anywhere and set it up. The power and quality of the light are essential too.

The 250-watt wireless flash measures 11x10x17.5 centimetres, weighs 1.5 kilos and has a recycling time of 0.05-2 seconds.

The B10 can be used as a flash with a natural and beautiful soft 'fall-off'. It also works as a continuous LED light (CRI 90-96) for photos and video. It can be dimmed (100-10%) with a maximum output of 2,500 lumens and has an adjustable colour temperature of 3,000-6,500 Kelvin. Both functions are controlled using a button on the back of the flash.

Other features and specifications include a detachable stand mount, allowing the flash to be mounted on any camera tripod, an easily replaceable battery, charging while in use, TTL, HSS, Profoto AirTTL wireless control from up to 300 metres, Bluetooth connectivity for the smartphone app and compatibility with 120 Profoto light-shaping tools.

Here's a short introduction to the Profoto B10:

@Hans: I think it depends on exactly what you want to order. A complete set costs 3230 euros at CameraNu.
