'Can you send me that photo?' This question comes up naturally, not only with street portraits, but also when I’ve simply taken a nice photo and start a conversation about it. That’s when business cards are incredibly useful.
Imagine having a productive day, for example during an Urban Photo Race (street photography competition). If you start collecting all the email addresses of the people you’ve photographed, you’ll have to keep an administration. You just want to take photos, of course!
The trick is to ask the person you’ve photographed to send you a message if they want to receive the photo. Much easier!
Another benefit is that you’re also promoting yourself a little. My business card only has my email address and my Instagram name on it (@michielheijmans, do follow me if you like).
You can find lots of printers online that can make business cards for you for just a few cents. Definitely do it!
