Street photography tip: Use zone focusing

A commonly used way of focusing in street photography is zone focusing. With zone focusing, you calculate the distance at which you set your lens to focus, so that everything in your composition at that distance is sharp.
Zone focusing works best from an aperture of around f/8, because anything with a lower number actually has too shallow a depth of field. This makes it almost guesswork where your zone is.
Some cameras have a function that allows you to set the focusing distance separately, such as the Ricoh GR series. But most cameras do have a way to lock that distance.
This way of focusing is of course mainly suitable for the 'Fishing' technique, and zone focusing often works much less well in busy places, where the camera will still struggle to find the right focus.
