In last night's episode, the remaining Dutch celebrities had to photograph two other aeroplanes from a small plane. They also had to photograph babies in a superhero scene.

Air to Air

In the first challenge, the four remaining contestants were allowed to take photos from a small and manoeuvrable aeroplane. Quite a cool subject, but challenging too.

Aviation photographer Frank Crébas came to give the Dutch celebrities some practical tips and was also the guest judge for this shoot. The Dutch celebrities worked with a Canon M50 mirrorless camera and an 18-150mm lens.

Personally, I didn't immediately think Jim's winning photo was the best. In my view, black and white isn't the nicest choice for this photo.

I think Ryanne's photo has a greater wow factor. The wind turbines show how low the aeroplanes are flying here, and also provide a good comparison of just how large a wind turbine is.

I also thought Patty's photo was special. The backlighting works really well here, and it looks like a photo from a war situation, with two fighter planes diving towards a submarine. You can see much more of a story in it.

Baby photos

The second shoot was something completely different again: photographing babies in a film set. The Dutch celebrities were helped by photographer Ingrid van Heteren.

The set dresser Laurien received little attention in the programme, but I think she was very important to the results. For this shoot, the Dutch celebrities worked with a Canon EOS 6D mark II and the 24-70mm f/4.

Ryanne's photo didn't really work out, but in my view the others had fairly decent results. I think Patty mainly won because of the fitting poses the babies adopted. It rather looks as though they're swinging through the jungle on vines.

In the end, Herman had to leave the programme.

Next week, the three remaining contestants will photograph free runners and will be given a free assignment.

I actually never watch the program but yesterday I happened to tune in during the baby shoot....I heard the jury say to Herman: beautiful photo, but it’s action and I’m missing the cape fluttering in the wind....point deducted...
Now Patty has the best photo, but I don’t see the baby holding onto a vine either ...... vrolijk

That airplane photo by Ryanne is indeed really awesome. Amazing! I once got to fly along in one of these planes to take aerial photos of a pop festival here in the village. And that is definitely not easy! So well done by these people.
