Canon has announced the Canon EOS R5C today. A Cinema EOS camera with the ability to take photographs too. Essentially just a Canon EOS R5 with extra cooling.

The camera body is also identical to the Canon EOS R5, but with a sizeable bump on the back containing the cooling system. The camera also has a striking red shutter button and the 'C' logo on the front.
Next to the on/off switch, the R5C has the option to start up as a photography or videography camera. In photography mode, the camera works like an EOS R5.
In videography mode, the camera behaves like a Cinema EOS camera. The menu looks different too and matches that of the professional Cinema EOS cameras.

You can now also record unlimited 8K footage at 60p with the camera, until your card is full. The cooling means the camera will not overheat. You can record 4K video at an impressive 120p. You can still use the camera's full autofocus system too.
The R5C can also record in Cinema RAW Light. A video format also found on the Canon C300 mark III. With this model, you can also record 8K HDR footage in HLG format.
The Canon R5C has no in-body image stabilisation. So that is a drawback, and you really need to plan to use the camera a lot for video to choose this version. Electronic stabilisation is available.
This Canon EOS R5C is therefore really aimed at videographers and will probably not be very popular among photographers.
Price and availability
The Canon EOS R5C should be in shops in March and will cost 5,029.99 euros.

You can now simply order the Canon R5 and have it delivered tomorrow, but it was indeed very poorly available for a long time.

I do think that demand for this version will be lower. Still very specifically for videographers.
