Canon has released a new cinema camera. The EOS C50 is a compact hybrid camera for professionals. At the same time, the RF 85m f/1.4L VCM sees the light of day.
The Canon EOS C50 is a full-frame cinema camera with an RF mount. It is the smallest cinema camera in the EOS series. The camera has a new 7K CMOS sensor. Together with the fast DIGIC DV-7 processor, you can record RAW internally at up to 7K 60p.
It also offers 4K 120p and 2K 180p. The EOS C50 is the first EOS camera to offer open-gate recording. This provides plenty of options for freely editing video footage. The camera has Dual Base ISO (ISO800/6400) with 15+ stops of dynamic range.
The EOS C50 also offers the option to take photographs. The sensor produces 32-megapixel photos. Keep in mind that the camera has no viewfinder. When you switch to photo mode, you get the familiar photo menu.
The camera has been designed to be modular. There are various mounting points for accessories. A detachable handle is available with XLR connections and video controls. There are also mounting points for an optional Canon PL-RF mount adapter.
The Canon EOS C50 will be available from November for 3,899 euros.
