A number of months ago, Leofoto contacted me to ask if I wanted to test one of their tripods. Leofoto is a new player on the Dutch market.

Jurassic Coast

In May, I travelled to the Jurassic Coast and South Wales with my family. A great opportunity to thoroughly test the tripod in various situations. My first conclusion: A well-designed, lightweight and very stable tripod.

The twist lock system works perfectly, even slightly better than the well-known brands I have used over the past few years. The legs are easy to adjust, and extending and retracting them works very smoothly.

In England, I quickly replaced the standard rubber feet with spikes. These are supplied as standard, including a small tool set. This simply gave me more grip in rocky environments.

The standard NB-40 Ballhead works simply but well. The whole thing can be rotated through 360 degrees and tilted. This makes positioning your camera for a good composition easy and quick.

Conclusion

So is this review a hymn of praise for Leofoto? No, because there are some drawbacks too. Which brand doesn't have those? It is not really the tripod, but actually the supplied carry bag.

Compared with other brands, the bag feels heavy. The quality of the bag is simply good, but if you are walking all day, every bit of weight you carry counts.

In short, I would be happy to recommend this tripod to other photographers. And as for the bag, that is a personal choice. Do you go for quality or weight?
